Privacy Policy
Last updated November 4, 2026
This policy explains how BuilTEN LLC (“BuilTEN”, “we”) handles information on our website, builten.app, and in the BuilTEN app at app.builten.app. BuilTEN is software for roofing and exterior contractors. The companies that use it (“customer companies”) decide what information about their own customers goes into it.
1. Who this covers
- Visitors to builten.app.
- Customer companies and their team members — owners, office staff, sales reps and door knockers who sign in to BuilTEN.
- Homeowners and other people whose information a customer company enters into BuilTEN, such as the people it inspects roofs for, sends proposals to and signs contracts with. For this information, BuilTEN acts on the customer company’s behalf, and the customer company is responsible for how it collects and uses it.
2. What we collect
- Account information: company name, state, team size, and each team member’s name, email address, mobile number, role and password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form).
- Work the company does in BuilTEN: door-knock records with their GPS location and outcome, appointments, photos and inspection reports, estimates, proposals, contracts and signatures, payments, messages and notes, goals, Daily 10 activity and pitch-trainer practice sessions (the practice conversation and its score).
- Homeowner information a company enters: names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, property photos, and the jobs, documents and payments connected to them.
- Billing information: plan, seats and invoices. Card and bank details are entered with our payment processor, Stripe, and never stored by BuilTEN.
- Website and device information: pages visited, the site you came from, campaign tags in the link you followed, and basic device and browser details. We measure website visits with privacy-focused analytics that do not use advertising cookies or track you across other websites.
- Messages to us: anything you send when you contact us or ask about the founders program.
3. How we use it
- To provide BuilTEN: run your account, store your work, send the emails, texts and notifications your company sets up, and process payments.
- To support you, keep BuilTEN secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
- To bill customer companies.
- To improve BuilTEN, including anonymous statistics combined across many companies that never identify a company, person or homeowner.
- To tell team members about their account and about BuilTEN — service messages always; product news only where you haven’t unsubscribed.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use homeowner information for our own marketing.
4. Text messages
When a customer company turns on texting, BuilTEN sends text messages on that company’s behalf — for example appointment reminders, inspection and proposal links, and replies to conversations the homeowner started. People receive these texts only after giving the company their mobile number and agreeing to be texted. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop receiving texts from that company and HELP for help, or contact us at support@builten.app.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information may be shared with the service providers that help us deliver messages (such as our messaging carrier), only for that purpose. All of the categories of sharing described in this policy exclude text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
5. Who we share information with
Only with the service providers that run BuilTEN for us, and only so they can do that work:
- Supabase — database, sign-in and file storage.
- Cloudflare — hosting for the website and app.
- Stripe — subscription billing, payments customer companies collect, and payouts.
- Twilio SendGrid — email delivery. Twilio — text messages and calls.
- Google — maps, address lookup and our own business email.
- Anthropic — the AI that reads roof photos and measurement reports and runs the pitch trainer. Information sent for these features is used to produce the result, not to train their models.
We also share information when the law requires it, to protect people’s safety or our rights, or as part of a sale or merger of our business, in which case this policy continues to apply to it.
6. Sharing a customer company chooses
- Training partners. If a company works with a sales-training partner through BuilTEN, its administrator chooses whether to share anything and what — such as door-knocking totals, Daily 10 results or signed-job totals. Partners see totals, rates and trends only — never homeowners, addresses, prices or job records — and rep names only if the administrator allows it. Sharing can be stopped at any time, and each rep can see what is shared and with whom.
- Shared knock history. On plans that include it, BuilTEN shows companies which addresses other BuilTEN companies have door-knocked, and the date. Only the address and the date are shared — never the company, the rep, the result, notes or anything about the homeowner.
7. How we protect it
Each company’s information is kept separate from every other company’s, enforced in the database itself. Connections are encrypted, access within BuilTEN follows each person’s role, and we keep regular backups. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we’ll tell you as the law requires.
8. How long we keep it
We keep a company’s information while its account is open. If an account is closed or placed on hold, we don’t delete its information without first giving the company notice and a chance to export it. Records we must keep for tax, legal or billing reasons are kept for as long as those reasons require.
9. Your choices
- Customer companies can export their information at any time.
- Team members can update their own profile in the app and unsubscribe from product news with the link in any such email.
- Homeowners: to see, correct or delete information a roofing company holds about you, contact that company — it controls that information. If you can’t reach them, contact us and we’ll help.
- Anyone can ask us to see, correct or delete what we hold about them by emailing hello@builten.app.
10. Children
BuilTEN is a business tool for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
11. Changes
We’ll post any change to this policy here with its new date, and tell customer companies about significant changes by email or in the app.
