Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between BuilTEN LLC (“BuilTEN”, “we”) and the company that signs up for BuilTEN (“you”). By creating an account or using BuilTEN you agree to them on behalf of your company. If you don’t agree, don’t use BuilTEN.

1. The service

BuilTEN is software for roofing and exterior companies: door knocking, inspections and photos, estimates, proposals, contracts, payments, production, team communication and reporting, at app.builten.app. We may improve, change or retire features over time. If we remove something central to the plan you pay for, we’ll tell you first.

2. Your account and your team

The person who signs up is your company’s first administrator. Administrators decide who on your team gets access and what they can see, and are responsible for the people they add. Keep logins private; each login is for one person. Tell us right away at support@builten.app if you think an account has been misused.

3. Free trial

New companies get one 14-day free trial. Starting it requires a card on file. When the trial ends, your subscription starts automatically and the card is charged for your first month, unless you cancel before the trial ends. A company that has had a trial before does not get another.

4. Plans, seats and billing

• Plans are billed monthly, in advance, per company. Each plan includes a number of full seats and knocker seats, shown on our pricing page.
• Extra seats are billed after each billing month, based on the most seats your company had in use at the same time during that month, minus the seats your plan includes. Adding a person is never blocked; it may add to your next invoice, and BuilTEN shows you the cost when you add them.
• Prices are in US dollars and do not include sales tax, which we add where it applies.
• We may change prices with at least 30 days’ notice. A change takes effect at your next billing month after the notice period.
• Founders program: the first 10 companies accepted as Founders pay the Pro price for every Premium feature, with 10 full seats and 5 knocker seats included, for as long as their account stays active and paid. Extra seats are billed at the normal add-on prices. If a Founders account is cancelled or goes unpaid, the Founders rate ends and is not restored.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.

5. Late payments, cancelling and refunds

• If a payment fails, you keep full access while the payment is retried for about two weeks. If it still hasn’t been paid, your account is placed on hold until it is: your team can’t sign in to work, but nothing is deleted, and paying restores access.
• You can cancel at any time from Admin > Billing. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the month you’ve paid for, and that month’s extra seats are billed on the final invoice.
• Fees already paid are not refunded, including for a partly used month, except where the law requires it.

6. Your data

Your company’s data — customers, jobs, photos, documents, prices and records — belongs to you. We use it only to provide and support BuilTEN for you, to keep it secure, and as these terms describe. You can export it at any time. If your account ends or is placed on hold, we won’t delete your data without first giving you notice and a chance to export it.

7. Your customers’ information

You are responsible for having the right to collect and use the information you put in BuilTEN about homeowners and other people, and for the messages your company sends through BuilTEN. That includes getting any consent the law requires before texting or calling someone, honoring opt-outs, and following the rules for marketing messages. Homeowner-facing pages (proposals, contracts, payment links, reports) carry your company’s name and branding.

8. Text messaging

When your company turns on texting, BuilTEN sends text messages on your company’s behalf, under your company’s name, using a number BuilTEN registers for you. You may text only people who have given your company their mobile number and agreed to receive texts, and you must keep a record of that agreement. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Anyone can reply STOP to stop texts from your company and HELP for help; BuilTEN honors these automatically and you must not text that person again unless they opt back in. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. BuilTEN may pause texting for a company whose messages break these rules or carrier rules.

9. Shared knock history

On plans that include it, BuilTEN shows a company which addresses other BuilTEN companies have door-knocked, and when. Only the address and the date are shared — never the company, the rep, the result, notes or anything about the homeowner. Your company’s knocks are included in this shared history while the feature is on for your account.

10. Training partners

If your company works with a sales-training partner through BuilTEN, your administrator chooses whether to share anything with that partner, and what: for example door-knocking totals, Daily 10 results or signed-job totals. Partners see totals, rates and trends only — never homeowners, addresses, prices or job records — and rep names only if your administrator allows it. Your administrator can stop sharing at any time. You agree to let your team know that their activity statistics may be visible to your company’s training partner; BuilTEN also shows each rep what is shared and with whom.

11. Anonymous statistics

We may combine data from many companies into anonymous statistics — for example average door-knock conversion rates — to improve BuilTEN and to publish industry benchmarks. These statistics never identify your company, your people or your customers.

12. Templates are not legal advice

BuilTEN provides starter contracts, terms and other templates for convenience. They are not legal advice and may not suit your state or your business. You are responsible for the contracts and documents you send your customers; have them reviewed by your own attorney.

13. Acceptable use

Don’t use BuilTEN to break the law, to send spam, to harass anyone, to upload anything you don’t have the right to, to try to reach other companies’ data, or to interfere with the service. We may suspend an account that does, and will tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it.

14. Availability and warranty

We work to keep BuilTEN running and your data safe, with regular backups. But BuilTEN is provided “as is”: we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors, and to the extent the law allows we disclaim implied warranties.

15. Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, neither of us is liable to the other for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, and BuilTEN’s total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid BuilTEN in the 12 months before the claim.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We’ll post the new version here with its date, and tell your administrators by email or in the app at least 30 days before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use BuilTEN after that means you accept the change.
